Cut to Size / Planed American Southern Yellow Pine Wood
The sapwood is almost white, and the heartwood varies from creamy-white to light straw-brown, or light reddish-brown. The wood is not particularly resinous, but resin ducts produce short, brown-coloured, thin lines on longitudinal surfaces. The grain is straight, and the texture is fine and even, planed surfaces have a satin-like appearance; the growth-rings are rather inconspicuous. The wood weighs about 670 kg/m³ when dried.
Ordering American Southern Yellow Pine Timber
Ordering southern yellow pine timber from Timbersource is a good choice for those who need a wood which machines, nails, screws, glues, and finishes well. Southern yellow pine also bends well, and is reasonably strong and shock resistant. However, it should be noted that an excess of resin has been known to disrupt machinery, and, though fairly durable, this timber is not completely resistant to either scuffing or denting.
