What softwood is good for cladding?
Larch is a great timber for cladding and although the British variety works well at a good price,
Siberian larch is far superior. As it grows in such harsh conditions, this makes it extremely hard
wearing. Siberian larch is a versatile light softwood like an exterior version of pine almost and
therefore has an attractive light colour giving buildings a stylish modern look. It can also work
very well for decking boards and outdoor furniture.
Cut to Size / Planed Siberian Larch Timber
Part of our European Softwoods range, the benefits of ordering Larch timber derive predominantly from its strength and durability – this is a wood held in high esteem by the timber trade, and is used extensively within the construction industry as a hardy cladding material. Most of the Larch which we supply is imported 100mm and wider - though dimension stock is available – and lengths vary above 2.1m. Grades range from prime unsorted (I-III) grade through to saw falling grade.
Ordering Siberian Larch Timber
The benefits of ordering Larch timber go beyond its toughness. It carries a large amount of natural resin, is extremely resistant to decay, machines well, finishes well, and dries well. It also takes glue, nails, and screws satisfactorily. The renowned strength of Larch timber is complemented by its remarkable stiffness and stability, though it does possess low shock resistance properties.
