Iroko wood is durable. The heartwood is very durable and is reported to be naturally resistant to decay.
West African Iroko is an incredibly durable timber, with colours ranging from golden-yellow to chocolate-brown even within the same board. It can be used to create stunning cladded walls & garden structures, and can be left untreated due to natural resistance against rot and insects. Iroko Timber is imported at FAS PHND (Pin hole no defect) grade, mainly kiln dried. Iroko timber is commonly used as a cheaper alternative to Teak - they are very similar in density, grain structure and colour after ageing.
